Placing an Advert on listmymotor.com - Public Seller

When advertising your car you will be able to choose between two different types of advert a 'standard' advert or a 'premium' advert.

The difference between the two is purely down to the amount of pictures you’re able to upload to the advert. With the standard advert you can add up to 3 photographs, and the premium you can add up to 9 photographs.

You can write up to 1000 characters of text in both the standard and premium adverts. Adverts are charged at £6 for the standard advert and £10 for the premium advert, your car will be advertised on the website for 30 days.

 

Placing an Advert on listmymotor.com - Trader

If you're a motor trader, or plan on selling more than five cars per year, you need to sign up for a trade account. The process is just the same as the public side however you have the option of storing more cars at once to then publish them all at the same time using our bulk package.

As a trader account all your adverts are 'premium' adverts which allows 9 photos and xxxx amount of text, and are also valid for 30 days. You have the ability to add your company logo to the advert to make you more recognisable as well.

You then have a choice of how many adverts you may want to place in the 30 days, you can choose individual ones at £12 +VAT each. Or you can purchase a bulk of 25 adverts for £60 +VAT, or 50 adverts for £120 +VAT.

 

How do I place and advert on listmymotor.com?

If it’s your first time on listmymotor.com, click here to sign up for free and place your first advert. Click ‘advertise my motor’ to get started. Select private or trade advert, then standard or premium advert (private adverts only). You will then be presented with drop down boxes where you will be able to add the manufacturer, model, colour, transmission, price etc…simply fill out the boxes with your cars details.

 

How do I upload photographs of my car?

When creating an advert you will be taken to the ‘upload images’ screen. To start uploading please ensure that your chosen images are saved to your computer this is becuase we are unable to take images from other websites. Depending on your choice of advert, you will be able to upload up to either 3 or 9 photographs. Uploading images individually normally results in a smoother uploading process.

Photographs need to be less that 1MB otherwise the site won't be able to upload them. To adjust the image size go into your camera menu and select 'image size' (or something of a similar wording) and adjust down to a smaller amount of mega pixels which will decrease the overall size of the images when you take new ones.

 

How long does the adverts last?

All adverts on listmymotor.com run for up to 30 days, after which they can be relisted if necessary. Relisting a car advert will be charged at £6 or £10 depending on which advert you choose (or the trade bulk prices of £15, £60 or £120 if you are a trader). If your car sells within the any of the 30 day period you are able to inform us and it will be took off the site to prevent any more phone calls or emails.

 

When will my advert appear on listmymotor.com?

As soon as our system has approved the advert, It’s is normally live within 60 minutes. However, from time to time this may take longer, for example if the site is having maintenance or we are experiencing a very high amount of traffic and adverts being placed.

 

When will my photographs of my car appear?

Sometimes your photographs can take a short while to appear on the advert when you have uploaded them. This can take up to half an hour so please bear this in mind when viewing your advert, this maybe due to similar factors as above and also the scaling down of larger photographs .

 

How do I edit my advert or photographs?

To edit your advert or photographs please visit the Member areas by clicking here. Once there, log in. Here you will find all the tools you need to amend your advert once live. Click the edit button to edit the relevant information also here you can either add, remove or change photographs of your car.

 

I've uploaded new photographs of my car, but I still see my old ones.....

New photographs can take a time to get through the site, so you may see your old photographs while as our servers update. If it takes over an hour, try clearing your internet browser's cache to make sure you're seeing the most up-to-date version of the listmymotor.com.

 

I've edited my advert, but it hasn't changed yet.....

The adverts can take around 60 minutes to update, so any changes you make will not appear always appear instantly on the site.

 

If you can't see any pictures....

You may not be able to see any photographs due to some of the internet security or firewalls you may have in place, check your setting to allow images and refresh your internet browser.

 

Where is the advert for my car?

If you want to see your advert you can click into the members area and underneath your advert there is a url link to your advert live on the site alternatively try searching through the site using the advanced search and find it that way.

If you can't find your advert check back into the member’s area and make sure it hasn't been flagged by our system for having inappropriate text or photographs. If it hasn't then allow a little time as it may take a while to upload on to the site. If after an hour or so and it is still not able to be found please contact us using the contact us page and we will look into it for you.

 

Email bouncing or spam issues.....

Occasionally, emails sent by listmymotor.com can be rejected by the email provider, or placed in the spam folder. Normally this occurs when the spam filter blocks them from entering your inbox, so please ensure you change your settings to allow emails from @listmymotor.com.

Emails can also bounce because the inbox is full.

Please ensure there are no problems with your email before placing or relisting your advert, as this may stop replies from potential purchasers contacting you.

 

I can't log in to the member area....

To login you need to use your email address that you used to set your account please make sure you have spelt it correctly and have the @ and . in the right places, also check your password is correctly spelt and using the right case as the password is case sensitive. If the problem still persists please contact us through the contact us section.

 

How do I relist my advert on listmymotor.com?

To relist your advert, you must first wait until the last day of the 30 it was posted for. At this time you will be able to relist within the advert management. It is not possible to relist adverts as new before this time.

60 Days Free Offer

We are offering customers the opportunity to advertise their vehicle on the site for 60 days for free.

To benefit from this offer, the advert needs to be uploaded and submitted before the end of February. This gets the first 30 days for free then you are required to 'Renew' your advert before March the 31/03/2012, to make use of the second 30 days for free. If the advert is placed in March you will only receive 30 days for free.

Follow the normal upload process to submit your adverts.
